The EmDrive is finally heading for space. But will it work?

For those of you who have read any of my Colony Mars series, you may have spotted that the engine used by the Odyssey Mars transit craft is an EmDrive. This makes a journey time of 10 weeks possible, as opposed to the 6-8 months required by traditional chemical rockets.

It’s impossible to overstate the impact of Star Wars. Its arrival in theaters on May 25th 1977 marked the end of one chapter in film history and the beginning of another. It’s a hinge on which film history swings. Upon its release, critic Pauline Kael derided the film as “an assemblage of spare parts—it has no emotional grip… an epic without a dream” Twenty years after its release critic Roger Ebert remarked that the film “colonized our imaginations, and it is hard to stand back and see it simply as a motion picture, because it has so completely become part of our memories.” Read More

Set glasses to rose tinted: Elon Musk Spacex mars colony

There’s no secret in Elon Musk’s fascination for Mars. It’s what inspired him to set up SapceX in the first place, after failing to buy a rocket from the Russians. The story goes that he wanted to send a few plants up to the red planet and…. well, the sale negotiations didn’t work out as hoped. Undeterred our hero set about building his own rocket and the rest, as they say, is history.

Although SpaceX is now focused on delivering supplies, and soon, astronauts to the ISS , Musk still harbours dreams of Mars. So it’s no surprise when he released these gorgeous reto-style travel posters… even if they are somewhat ‘rose tinted‘.
