Handy with robots? Got some spare time? Could do with a little extra cash?
Then here’s the job for you.
NASA have just announced the Space Robotics Challenge, a contest to program a virtual robot and get it ready for Mars. Teams will be given the task of programming Robonaut 5, a humanoid robot, on how to fix a habitat after a Martian dust storm. As part of this, they’ll need to use the robot to complete three missions: align a communications dish, repair a solar array, and fix a leak in the hab.
I wonder what Nills and Gizmo, from Colony One Mars, would think of this. Maybe they should be on the judging panel.
